About
CID is organising an Early Career Researchers Sandpit, focused on Sensors and Detection Devices for Infectious Diseases. This is taking place on the 24th of November, at the PostDoc Academy at Eddington.
In the sandpit, we will feature inspirational talks by academic and industry peers, followed by brainstorming sessions in which the ECRs will discuss ideas for projects to be carried out over 1 year.
There will be some time after the event to develop the proposals further, and the best project will be awarded a pump-priming grant of £ 7,500, supported by the Cambridge Centre for Physical Biology.
We expect a diverse range of backgrounds among the participants, from microbiologists interested in applying their knowledge, to engineers with technical experience, to physicists who have worked on sensors before and are willing to explore how to apply them to infectious disease detection.
Programme for the day please email mb2464@cam.ac.uk
If you are interested, please fill in the following form by Friday 24th October: https://forms.gle/f2FXtBsVRCWjuxvQA
This event has limited capacity, and we will prioritise representation from different departments/Schools to ensure a variety of expertise if numbers are exceeded. Please consider this when describing your interests in the form.
