The Cambridge SynBio IRC is pleased to announce it's new status as one of the University of Cambridge's Interdisciplinary Research Centres.
In January, the University's Research Policy Committee confirmed the award, which recognises the excellent work of the Synthetic Biology Strategic Research Initiative (SRI) over the past six years. The committee applauded the SRI's "clear focus and unique offering and, in particular, the work being done to break down boundaries between departments in the University and the SRI’s work with students".
The new status as SynBio IRC will provide funding for a further three years, and allow the network to continue supporting researchers working at the intersection of biology and the physical sciences, as well as providing space to move forward with new initiatives and activities. Upcoming projects include the opening of a cross-department shared space for Smart Microscopy, and a new series of Biomaker workshops.
