The EngBio IRC are looking for a student or postdoc with an innovative mindset to lead a new project exploring synthetic and engineering biology opportunities within the Cambridge biotechnology cluster.
Are you interested in learning more about the UK’s biotechnology sector, understanding how you can apply your research though commercialisation or making contacts with investors and collaborators? The EngBio IRC are exploring possibilities for a new project connecting researchers at the University of Cambridge with start-ups, pharma and chemical companies, venture capital, investors and bioscience suppliers located, or with interests in, the Cambridgeshire area.
The project aims to:
- Build new partnerships and collaborations between Cambridge engineering biology researchers and local industry
- Support researchers at the university with translation to impact by connecting them to relevant industry contacts, venture capital and investment opportunities
- Support the local biotechnology community with navigating the Cambridge engineering biology and innovation ecosystems and finding the right people at Cambridge to work with and invest in
- Provide companies with the opportunity to share their work and products with Cambridge researchers, and help Cambridge researchers access the latest tools and technologies available in the field
We are looking for a student, postdoc or other staff member to help take this project forward as a part time (20% FTE), fully compensated role. Support will be available from the IRC, with responsibilities including:
- Conducting a stakeholder mapping exercise to identify, contact and understand the needs of potential partners
- Exploring and mapping the University of Cambridge innovation and enterprise landscape in relation to engineering biology
- Assisting with the design and development of an online community portal
- Organising and delivering one or more community events
If you are interested in taking part in this project, or would like to learn more, please contact Dr Stephanie Norwood at coordinator@engbio.cam.ac.uk.
