Biography
I'm currently a Research Fellow in Biological Sciences at the Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemsitry (hosted by Dr. Jenny Zhang) and Trinity Hall. Prior to this I completed my PhD in the lab of Prof. Christopher Howe in the Department of Biochemistry, working on interfacing photosynthetic membranes with electrodes. I completed my undergraduate in Biotechnology at Imperial College London, with a focus on synthetic biology alongside completing a year in industry at the Diamond Light Source synchrotron.
Research
My research is centred on bioelectricity: the processes by which living organisms generate, use, and sense electricity. In particular, I work on elucidating how photosynthetic bacteria secrete electrons, as well as exploiting this process for solar-powered energy and chemical production. Aside from this I have worked on various research projects spanning the fields of bioelectrochemistry, biophysics, synthetic biology, structural biology and bio-art.
