Title of the talk: Building synthetic cells using DNA nanotechnology.
Bio: Layla is a final-year PhD student at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, having joined the Di Michele group in January 2020. She is a postgraduate researcher on the ERC-funded NANOCELL project, working on developing a DNA nanotechology toolkit for artificial cell design. Layla completed her undergraduate and MSci degree in Chemistry at Imperial College London, after which she worked in the Civil Service and later as a stealth and novel materials scientist at QinetiQ.
Postdocs are welcome from across the University and University-affiliated institutes (MRC-LMB, Babraham Institute etc.). Whilst the main aim of the group is to support postdocs, interested PhD students and other research staff are more than welcome to join our meetings.
