My Research Interests
I am interested in the processes that happen at the lipid membrane of cells, and how we can dissect them in synthetic model membranes to better understand their mechanistic governing principles. Once we have a thorough understanding of how these pathways function, I apply this knowledge to construct from the bottom-up, cell-like objects with membrane-hosted functionality. Besides using them as a platform for learning by engineering biology, these synthetic cells have applications in healthcare and biotechnology.
What I enjoy most about being on the ECR committee
Getting to meet and engage with like-minded people, explore collaborative synergies, and just talking science with people outside my immediate field is really stimulating and has taught me how to present my work to a non-expert audience.
Why someone should join the ECR committee
It is a great way to help shape the strategic direction of this interdisciplinary community and field, and to make sure that ECR voices are embedded in that process.
