Biography
Dr Irina Gostimskaya obtained her undergraduate degree and PhD from the School of Biology in Moscow State University where she investigated the respiratory chain of mitochondria, in particular Complex I. After her PhD she worked as a postdoc at The University of Manchester, later joining the group of Prof Erwin Reisner at the Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry in Cambridge in 2023. She is a biochemist with experience in enzymology, photobiocatalysis, protein engineering and directed evolution, cellular metabolism and genetic modifications.
Research
Currently Irina is working on designing bio/abio systems that can be used for different applications in “green” chemistry processes while following multidisciplinary approaches.
